DPP Legislation
Prepare for Digital Product Passport Legislation
The cutting-edge solution transforming the way we understand and interact with fashion products
What are Digital Product Passports?
Digital Product Passports, often referred to as DPPs, are digital records that provide a comprehensive and transparent overview of a fashion product’s journey from creation to consumption. Imagine having a virtual identity card for your favourite piece of clothing – that’s what a Digital Product Passport is all about.
What are Digital Product Passport Requirements?
The EU Strategy for Sustainable and Circular Textiles, released in March 2022, calls for DPPs to be mandatory on textiles sold in Europe by 2030. This strategy calls upon the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR) to define DPP requirements. The ESPR is expected to be adopted in 2024, when specific DPP requirements will start to be written as Delegated Acts.
The DPP should be easily accessible by scanning a data carrier, such as a QR code. The data carrier should be physically present on the product itself to ensure the information remains accessible throughout its life cycle.
How can Eslando Relabel help Brands?
Relabel is a Digital Product Passport created by Eslando to empower brands to deliver on their sustainability mission.
For fashion brands, the DPP presents both challenges and opportunities. On the one hand, it will require them to collect and report more data about their products. This can be a daunting task, but it is essential if they want to remain competitive & relevant in the future.
